step-by-step
what does being a patient look like?
01 — free 10min call
I always recommend to start with the free call. your health journey is likely going to take a lot of collaboration and work. you have to be fully committed and trust who you work with. this call gives us a chance to see if we are a good fit for each other. it also let’s me capture some important details before ordering labs to make the most of our first appointment
02 — bloodwork
I want recent labs for every patient so that we don’t waste our time chasing fairy dust. I order an extensive set of labs to start with that costs $250. it cannot be covered by insurance, unfortunately. If you prefer to bring labs from your primary care doctor, that works, too! I can either send you a list to request from them or we can have them run what they can and we can fill in the gaps with a separate itemized blood draw, if needed. For women, most bloodwork is done on day 19-21 of your cycle, so keep this in mind when scheduling - it’s always best to be ahead of this and have plenty of time to order bloodwork before getting to that date.
03 — 1hr initial consultation
once labs are finalized or returned to me, we can have our 1 hour appt. you will be expected to fill out all new patient paperwork prior to this appointment. this time is estimated on how long it will take us to go through your medical history, bloodwork, and symptoms. once I gather that information from you, you will be emailed a treatment plan within 24 hours. this plan might include supplements, diet and lifestyle changes, peptides, and more.
04 — follow the plan
this is where the hard work comes in and falls on you. after our first appointment, please be committed to following through. it will be a stepwise process to work through each symptom and will take time depending on the complexity of your case and your dedication. hormones usually take a few months to see changes in cycles. I tend to send patients off on the plan for 4-6 weeks before checking in to give time to see changes. naturopathic medicine is not an overnight quick-fix. the goal is to treat the body deeper and push it to be able to function without the supplements and medications. we’re supporting the body back to balance. this takes time.
05 — follow up appointments
most follow ups are quick 15 min check ins unless we are working on multiple symptoms or organ systems, then it will be a 30min check in. labs should be done every 3-6 months depending on complexity of the case, and bloodwork will not be the full set, but rather a curated set of markers we specifically need for what we are working on.
06 — graduate as patient
this is where I want every patient to get to. when you graduate as a patient, we are giving you a final plan of action. taking away any supplements we can and setting you up with a sustainable plan moving forward. only checking in once a year or so or as needed for acute illnesses.
